(2) John 'Evans (Certified Sanitary Officer under the Royal Sanitary Institute), Sanitary Officer. The M.O.H. is part time only. Laboratory Facilities. Bio-chemical and Pathological work is carried out by the Clinical Research Association Ltd., London, when required- Ambulance Facilities. There is an Ambulance attached to the Hospital at Llandrindod Wells and an Ambulance at Builth Wells. Each is of great assistance to the area. Nursing in the Home. Nursing is carried out by the Nursing Association of Builth Road and that of Hundred House. Each maintains a certified Mid-wife who acts as a General Nurse and who visits in the district. There is no provision for nursing cases of Infectious Diseases. The provision of an Infectious Disease Hospital is under review. Clinics and Treatment Centre.— The Maternity and Child Welfare Clinic at Builth Wells and that of Llandrindod Wells are available for residents in the district. Dr. N. T. K. Jordan, of the Welsh National Memorial Association, attends twice monthly at Builth Wells and residents of the district can attend his Tuberculosis dispensary. Hospitals : Public and Voluntary. There is no Public Hospital, nor is there a Public Assistance Institution actually in the area. There is no Voluntary Hospital in the area, but the Llandrindod Wells Hospital and the Builth Cottage Hospital are available for residents in the area. The Welsh National Memorial Association has a Convalescent Home situate in the area. To this home convalescents from a very wide area are sent. Sanitary Circumstances of the Area. No extension of any water supply has been made. The water supply of the village of Howey and its immediate vicinity is still under review. No case of pollution has occurred. No sewage works has been carried out, and no closet accommodation has been made. No fresh arrangements have been made with regards to scavenging. Nil Inspections of dwelling-houses under 1935 Act proceeding. Inspection and Supervision of Food.. (a) MILK SUPPLY.—Samples were bacteriologically examined and were on the whole satisfactory. (b) SLAUGHTER HOUSES were inspected on 90 occasions. (c) ADULTERATION.—No samples of food have been examined. (d) CHEMICAL AND BACTERIOLOGICAL EXAMINATION OF FOOD.—No examination has been carried out. (e) NUTRITION.—There is no scheme for education on this matter. Prevalence of, ahd Control over Infectious and other Diseases. The prevalence of these diseases is light. As stated above the provision of an Isolation Hospital for the area is under review. No cases of Small-pox occurred. The Medical Officer of Health was not called-upon to perform vaccinations in consequence of Small-pox contacts.
